  • Which UTM parameters are required?

    GA4 requires only utm_source and utm_medium. utm_campaign is strongly recommended. utm_content and utm_term are optional but valuable for A/B tests.

  • Should UTMs be uppercase?

    No — write them lowercase. GA4 is case-sensitive; 'Google' and 'google' are tracked as two separate channels.

  • Can fragments (#) be combined with UTMs?

    Yes, but UTMs come first: ?utm_source=…&utm_medium=…#section. Browsers don't send fragments to the server; UTMs must be in the query string.
