Miley Cyrus Gives Hannah Montana Hair a Grown-Up Refresh

Miley Cyrus is many things: a powerhouse singer, talented songwriter, fashion icon and trendsetter. But what she’s best known for is her evolving artistry. Her ability to shift with the moment—infusing her signature cool-girl edge into each era—is unmatched, and nothing proves that more than her recent revival of Hannah Montana’s signature hairstyle.

From 2006 to 2011, it was nearly impossible to escape the Disney Channel hit. Cyrus starred as a not-so-typical teenager living a double life as a famous pop star, and while the show had plenty of memorable moments, its most iconic element wasn’t the music or costumes—it was her long blond wig with wispy bangs.

The look became inseparable from Cyrus’s early career, and though she’s reinvented herself countless times since, the image still carries weight, which is exactly why the internet lit up when she debuted a Montana-inspired style at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 3.

Stepping onto the red carpet, Cyrus wore a sharp black tuxedo ensemble paired with matching sunglasses. She looked the part of a classic rockstar, but the real focal point was her hair: long, blond and flowing, complete with bangs. The reference felt intentional, a nod to her pop-star alter ego, reworked through a distinctly Miley lens.

Gone was the bronde shade with sun-bleached streaks fans remember from the show. In its place: a soft honey-blond hue and chic curtain-style bangs, perfectly parted. It was as if we were watching the reinvention of Hannah Montana unfold on the red carpet. Cyrus even confirmed the connection in a quick moment with Variety, teasing that she’s working on the show’s 20th anniversary and adding simply, “You see the bangs.”

While we can’t be sure what’s coming next, one thing’s clear: Hannah Montana’s signature look is certainly having a moment again—this time with a very 2026 twist.
